Why do I need a charging station for my electric car?
EVs use rechargeable batteries to supply energy to propel the vehicle. When you drive, the car uses the battery’s stored electricity. A charging station refills your battery with electricity.
How much should I expect to pay for installation?
The actual cost will vary because not everyone’s home is set up the same way and local requirements differ. After completing a site assessment at your home, a qualified electrician will provide a quote based on what is required for your installation. In general, an installation will cost between $250 and $1,000 (plus any applicable permits), but could be higher depending on your specific situation. Most electricians will perform a free site inspection and estimate. You may consider getting an estimate before you purchase your Level 2 EV charging station so that you can determine the exact cost of your installation.
Are there any tax incentives available?
There have been federal tax credits of up to $1,000 to install an EV charging station at your residence.
